Paula's Story

Paula led a typical and healthy life. Paula and her husband recognised the importance of financial security and thus acquired life insurance to protect their mortgage and her income, based on the advice from a financial advice specialist. It never crossed their minds that they would ever have to utilise their insurance coverage.

Paula had no inkling that her life would take an unforeseen turn. At the young age of 47, Paula experienced a life-altering stroke, forever altering her familiar existence.

What Paula had to say:

After suffering a stroke and taking some much needed time off work, I decided I wanted to return to work. People have inquired whether I could resume my former job, but the answer is a resounding no. Fatigue continues to affect me, which is why I have opted for part-time employment rather than full-time commitment.

Quite quickly after I suffered the stroke, my husband and I got in touch with the team at Beerstone to claim on our critical illness insurance. The total sum was promptly allocated towards the mortgage, effectively alleviating a significant amount of financial pressure.

Due to the fact that at my previous job I was making very good money, I found myself in a position where I had exhausted my sick pay and was left without any income. This financial situation forced my husband and I to reassess our expenses, and one area we identified for cost-cutting was the level of coverage provided by the guys at Beerstone. Therefore, I made a call to their team at a later date to request a reduction in my income protection cover.

The income protection was most helpful and really helped us in the long run as well as eased the pressure of me and my husband. The insurance funds we received, as well as the advice from Beerstone, have been an invaluable source of support for us. The fact that we had the income protection insurance has certainly made a difference! If it wasn't for Beerstone, we possibly could have lost our home by now. The money pays our mortgage and that is what matters most to me.

Paula is eligible for a proportionate benefit under her income protection policy, considering her inability to perform her original role. Thanks to her income protection policy with us, we can help Paula with a host of rehabilitation benefits such as counseling should she need it.
